Spending time by myself

Sometimes I wonder if its a weird feeling to want to be alone. I am not an anti social person. I ve friends and a good family with whom I chat a lot. But sometimes I feel more comfortable being alone. 
Many of my friends say that they are afraid to be alone then am I being weird for seeking it?
